Why is Ayudha Puja Celebrated?

During ancient times, weapons used in battle were worshipped as they were used to defeat the enemy.

On this day, soldiers worship weapons and artisans revere tools.

The Ayudha Puja is regarded as a meaningful custom that emphasizes the importance of one’s profession and its tools and signifies that a divine force is helping you to perform well and be rewarded.

In Karnataka, the festival celebrated Mahishasura’s death by goddess Durga. Following the death of the demon king, the weapons were displayed for worship.

As part of the Ayudha Pooja, one must become reverent in both body and mind. When you become reverent toward something, you create a certain distance from it.

By becoming reverent of them, your body and mind will become separated. In the same way, your mind and body are separated once you become fervently aware of who you really are.

As you become aware of your body and mind, you will come to the end of suffering. If you are far enough away from it, your life can remain untouched.

You are not wounded in any way by this.
